A new generation of companies, like CIRCA, are redefining the structure of how information is treated, and building new CMS to support it. Their approach will inevitably feed into a new generation of CMS for whom the 'article' and 'page' are, if not meaningless, at least optional. And I for one can't wait. "what we’re really doing at Circa is adding structure to information ... there’s an increasing amount of discussion around “atoms” of news. But the interesting thing about those atoms of news isn’t that they’re short ... [it's] how those atoms combine.... The value of journalism comes from filtering things out of the flow of information ... But CMS fail to capture a lot of the value of information invested in the reporting process....
