Building six departments for four companies

Some experience with building company structures, processes, role definitions, etc:

  • building from scratch the Editorial Department (1991-1997) and Web department (1995-1999) of comms consultancy European Service Network, managing both simultaneously for several years, and putting in place a matrix management approach to project and resource planning
  • Broadband Content & Software division for dotcom broadband rollout company Quadtel (2000)
  • I took the Web department of comms consultancy GOPA-Cartermill (2008-2012) from the smallest to the largest in the company. I also won more work than the business development team, and installed a departmental structure and processes for managing projects, human resources, time and knowledge
  • Developed the comms and IT strategies for META Group, developed and managed the corresponding departments, and hired and mentored staff, guiding two of them to take over as department managers (2016-2019)
