Integrating IT, internal and external communications for META Ventures

META Ventures provides venture capital fund management, entrepreneurial training and innovation consultancy to cities, regions and national governments in several countries, as well as EU Institutions.

Through a process of interviewing staff and key stakeholders across the company in early 2016, I first defined their external communications strategy. This inevitably lead to integrating their internal communications, knowledge management and collaboration strategy. In mid 2016 they asked me to implement both, and take responsibility for IT, and then comms.

Over the following years, through a process of training, recruitment and mentoring, I:

• integrated the communications strategy across the company
• developed the company's communications unit, hiring a Unit manager and coaching her in planning, implementation and managing staff
• developed the company's IT unit, hiring a Unit manager and coaching him in planning, implementation and managing staff
• oversaw the development of the company's principal platforms and trained staff in their use:
  • an O365-based internal communications, collaboration and knowledge management system
  • Innovation Platform (challenge-based innovation for cities)
  • Booster Platform (delivering online capacity-building for researchers learning entrepreneuralism)
