Cosmik Lab Notes 001: Semble Alpha - Cosmik Labs

my notes ( ? )

First edition of " Cosmik Lab Notes ... working in the open and sharing thoughts as we build Semble and the wider Cosmik Network" as they go into open alpha, so first notes from kicking the tyres:

  • "modeled after social knowledge tools like Are.na and Sublime... you can collect links, organize them into collections, and see what others on the network are doing" - but at first glance I thought you could only create a card either from scratch (filling out a form) or by essentially reblogging (or reHubbing) someone else's. Odd for a curation tool to go to open alpha without making a bookmarklet easily available - I had to find this edition to find the link
  • "Clicking on a card will take you to the Semble page... aggregating ... activity around the link... collections it's featured in, and comments" - this, and reHubbing, is what I wanted to add to myhub next
  • right now it only grabs content from the Semble network, but "we plan ... to aggregate activity from other ATProto apps and beyond"

Stuff which sounds interesting on their roadmap:

  • "Bluesky social graph integration ...
  • Collaborative collections...
  • other atproto app integrations...
  • API and developer tools ... [allowing eg] importing data from other bookmarking apps...
  • broader set of link metadata", including bibliographic citation
  • "Research-specific "emojisā€ for higher signal curation
  • Inline highlights and annotations
  • Semantic search to surface similar links"
