It gets to the heart of two arguments I've been making recently:

• incumbents can't build what we need, because they're locked into their business model even more securely than their users are locked into their platforms
• the solution is not to build a competing platform, it's to move the ground from under the incumbents' feet by creating protocol-based social media: "We don’t build one platform. We build tools so that any group can build their own corner of the network.

Hence the title: "infrastructure for interdependence" is:
