An Arctic walrus appeared on Ireland's shores this week. A 5-year-old was the first to spot him, and everyone's pretty excited. The last time a walrus turned up in Ireland was 1999.
He's not the only Arctic pinniped to appear in Ireland recently though. An Arctic ringed seal was found in January 2020, and in 2016 an Arctic sub-bearded seal.
Why are we seeing these Arctic species so far south? Could it be due to sea-ice melt? Interested to know...
